Meet the Founders of PAP & PLM

Learn about the passionate individuals behind Proactive Advocates For Prisoners & People Like Me, their experiences, and their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of prisoners and their families.

A Personal Journey to Advocacy

The founders of Proactive Advocates For Prisoners & People Like Me (PAP & PLM) were driven by deeply personal experiences. With a husband who spent almost 27 years in the prison system and a son facing a potential 10-to-20-year sentence, they witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of incarceration on individuals and families. They realized that upon release, many individuals return "broken" and without a support system, struggling to reintegrate into society. The absence of fathers and mothers due to incarceration also deeply impacted families.

Envisioning Fair Sentencing

The founders are dedicated to advocating for fair sentencing practices. They believe that life-long sentences should be reserved for only the most heinous crimes. Their vision is to create a world where the justice system offers genuine opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration.

The Pap & Plm Difference

What sets PAP & PLM apart is their genuine care and unique perspective. The organization is run by ex-convicts who have experienced the system firsthand. They understand the challenges faced by prisoners and their families, and they possess the knowledge and expertise to navigate the complexities of the legal system, including knowing what paperwork to file.
